2. Eco Tour Training for Student Ambassadors (3 June 2026) for UG Mainland Consultation Days (12-13 June 2026)
On the training day, our senior arborist taught student ambassadors about the flora and fauna found on campus. They showed particular interest in the screw pine leaf, which children used in the past to make small cages for keeping spiders as pets.
3. “Barter” Environmental Recycling Activity
In alignment with the EPD theme for June, “Recycling Day,” a recycling vendor was invited to host a campus recycling activity on 23 June 2026. Designed to reduce textile waste, promote resource circularity, and foster a strong culture of sustainability across the university community, the event was a success, collecting over 130 kg of recyclable materials.
4. Waste weighting system
To enhance data accuracy for campus waste collection and optimise calculations for our recycling-to-waste ratio, a waste weighting system has been installed in refuse storage and material recovery chamber on A-G/F of S H Ho Academic Building to measure the actual weight of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW).
5. Post-Typhoon Tree Clearance Works – Typhoon Noul (Signal No. 9)(26 July 2026)
Following Typhoon Noul (Signal No. 9), our landscape team promptly removed broken branches and stabilised fallen trees on campus to ensure a safe environment for the community.

6. Mowing the lawn and Cleaning of sewage water channels behind HSUHK Jockey Club Residential Colleges
To reduce mosquito breeding, regular lawn mowing and thorough cleaning of sewage water channels behind the RCs are carried out. 7. Maintenance Works for Organic Farm during Fellow Period (16 August -13 September 2026)
During the fallow period, our landscape team carried out maintenance work on the organic farm. They removed the remaining crops from the farming lot, loosened the soil, and trimmed the grass. These activities help to improve soil health and prepare the land for the new planting season. By loosening the soil, water and air can better reach the roots, promoting stronger crop growth in the future. Regular maintenance like this ensures that the farm remains productive and sustainable.
8. Beautification works at Roof of S H Ho Academic Building and 4/F Podium of Lee Quo Wei Academic Building
Potted plants were placed at roof of S H Ho Academic Building and 4/F podium of Lee Quo Wei Academic Building to create a green and pleasant space. These plants attract more animals, which helps increase biodiversity. The greenery also makes the area look nicer and provides a calm and relaxing place for colleagues and students to enjoy.
