a. West Lane Project

Conceptual Design of the West Lane Building

Foundation works for the new academic building have commenced. 
 
Updated Progress includes:
 
a) Building foundation piling work was completed on 3 May 2022 and the concrete blinding works of pile cap and tie beam works have commenced following the completion of the foundation works.

b) EVA (emergency vehicular access) foundation piling work reported completion on 22 August 2022, the pile loading test for Building Department inspection was being arranged.

c) Tree transplant works were completed on 27 June 2022 and planters to retain the transplanted trees were completed on 24 August 2022.

b. Directional Signs
To facilitate drivers and visitors to the campus, CDMO has been in close liaison with the Transport Department (TD) and the MTR Corporation Limited (MTR) respectively for the erection/ provision of directional signs at designated locations.
 

Directional signs near Yu Chui Court and Hong Kong School of Motoring have been completed in April 2021 and directional signs at Greenhill Villa and Shatin Wai Road have been completed in August 2021 and June 2022 respectively.

2. Campus Renovation and Improvement Works

The M Building was built over 40 years ago and the important facilities such as the College Hall and the Rendezvous (M canteen) had only been beautified by piece-meals basis over these years.

The senior management of the University has tasked the Campus Development and Management Office to carry out renovation and upgrading works for the M Building starting from summer break 2022 in order to modernize those facilities with a more attractive ambience and also enhance some safety and practical aspects such as acoustic, spalling repairs, rewiring, ventilation and barrier free access improvement.

a. Renovation of College Hall

A newly renovated College Hall with updated sound systems will be ready to serve the campus community by September as a key venue for important University events such as Graduation Ceremony, Information Day, student events, tests and examinations, College Assemblies, etc.  

b. Renovation of the Rendezvous (M Canteen)

The renovation work of M Canteen has been completed in mid August 2022 and scheduled to re-open on 30 August 2022.

c. Rewiring Works at M Building

To ensure stable power supply and safety of wirings which had been in use for more than 40 years at M Building, rewiring works has been planned to be conducted in several phases. The first phase is to execute the rewiring works for classrooms, lecture hall, offices and public areas on 8/F to 11/F at M Building, which started in July 2022 and targeted to finish around December 2022.

d. Replacement of Fluorescent Tube

During the rewiring works on 8/F to 11/F at M Building, replacement of the existing fluorescent tube at public area by:

a) Dimmable and energy efficient LED tube with occupancy sensor at staircases.
b) Weatherproof lighting fitting with energy efficient LED tube at corridor.
