  1. Smart Recycling Bins

Smart Recycling Bins, launched on 27 March 2025 under the Environmental Protection Department’s Pilot Programme, boosted recycling efficiency.

2. Sustainable Campus E-Postcard

To raise awareness and inspire action, we launched our Green Spaces e-Postcard Series on 29 May 2025. These beautifully designed postcards highlight the incredible benefits of our campus flora—from purifying the air and supporting biodiversity to uplifting our mood and creating a peaceful environment.

  1. Campus Tour for visually impaired visitors

    HSUHK held a campus tour for visually impaired visitors on 29 March 2025. CDMO staff provided training for student docents to learn about green practices and sustainability on campus before the tour. Students led the tour and activities that involved touch and sound. They showcased the plants and animals on campus and shared our sustainability efforts, emphasizing our commitment to diversity and equal opportunities.

  1. Tree planting at Lee Quo Wei Academic Building

    Seven new trees of the species Senna surattensis (黃槐), were planted on 4/F podium of the Lee Quo Wei Academic Building in May, replacing problematic trees due to health issues to ensure safety and prevent the risk of falling.

  1. Technical Visit to HSUHK by BEAM Society

    Leaders and members of BEAM Society conducted a technical visit to HSUHK on 20 June 2025 to learn about HSUHK’s work in sustainability measures. The tour featured an elaborate campus tour guided by CDMO staff on our campus sustainability development for industry professionals to gain firsthand knowledge of HSUHK’s ethos in promoting green campus and BEAM Plus Platinum rated buildings.

  1. BEAM Plus Final Platinum rating to Creative Humanities Hub

    The Creative Humanities Hub was awarded Final Platinum rating under BEAM Plus New Buildings Version 2.0 on 11 June 2025, reflecting HSUHK’s commitment to sustainability, innovation, and environmental excellence.

    There are a total of 5 campus development projects receiving Final Platinum rating under BEAM Plus New Building since 2013.

  1. Community Service – Food Donation

    A food donation drive, scheduled on 8 July 2025 with Food Angel, provided nutritious meals to those in need while reducing wastage of food still good for consumption.

8. Fallow Period for Organic Farm in Summer 2025

Regular maintenance work at the organic farm, including infrastructure upkeep, mowing, and weeding, was conducted in the summer to create a healthy soil environment for the upcoming season.

9. Proactive Tree Maintenance and Advanced Assessments of Tree Conditions

Before the typhoon season, we used advanced tree assessment tools including resistograph and sonic tomograph to evaluate the internal structure of trees to identify potential problems. This allowed us to proactively remove any trees with serious defects. Additionally, we carried out tree pruning, which included removing dead or broken branches, thinning the crown, and reducing the crown size. These measures help reduce the risk of falling trees and branches during adverse weather conditions. Keeping our campus community safe remains our top priority.
