1. Creative Humanities Hub wins Universal Design Gold Award

HSUHK’s Creative Humanities Hub has been honored with the Gold Award under the “Universal Design Award Scheme 2024-25 (UDAS)” by the Equal Opportunities Commission. The award was presented on 1 November 2024.

This award programme promotes the principles of equal opportunities, diversity, and inclusion, fostering an environment that is accessible to all. The UDAS includes various criteria for assessment, such as access, doors, services, furniture and fixtures, business-specific components, signage and wayfinding, toilets, lifts, ambiance, and parking. Creative Humanities Hub features over 60 features that meet these standards, earning it the recognition of the UDAS Gold Award.

 

2. EcoTrail Tours on 16 November 2024 and 15 February 2025

On 16 November 2024 and 15 February  2025, our CDMO team along with student ambassadors led the Hang Seng Bank sponsored “EcoTrail Tours”, attracting a total of over 110 participants on both tours.  The attendees included staff and family from Hang Seng Bank, and HSUHK staff and students. These tours offered a valuable opportunity for attendees to learn about the university’s sustainability practices while exploring the diverse flora and fauna on campus.

  1. Provision of Seasonal Flowers during Graduation Ceremony

Colorful and vibrant flowers were displayed during the Graduation Ceremony to infuse the space with energy and joy. Graduates, along with their families and friends, had the opportunity to take photos on campus, creating lasting memories against a backdrop of stunning blooms.

  1. Water Recycling of Indoor Swimming Pool 

To foster a sustainable community and continuous practice, CDMO continues  to reuse indoor swimming pool water during the pool cleaning exercise, customarily discharged, to clean driveways and common areas on campus.

  1. Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Facilities available at S H Ho Academic Building 

Four (4) new 22kW AC EV charging stations were set up at the covered carpark of S H Ho Academic Building and have been in service since 27 January 2025. For more details, please refer to the “Guidelines and Procedures for Using EV Charger” and “EV Charging Facilities User Guide“. 

  1. Walk More, Use the Stairs

Keep an eye for our new sticker reminders around campus that inspire everyone to take the stairs for better health! Walking more can greatly improve our well-being, so let’s embrace this habit together. Every step counts—let’s make a positive change for our health!

  1. Site Visit to O·PARK1

To enhance the learning experience regarding sustainable waste management practices, CDMO arranged 2 site visits to O·PARK1 on 19 and 27 February 2025 respectively for staff and students. This innovative facility utilises anaerobic digestion technology to convert food waste into biogas, a renewable energy source similar to natural gas, which is then used for electricity generation and making it a significant player in the efforts towards sustainability and waste management.
