Newsletter 202503 – Projects, renovation and improvement works

1. Renovation Works on G/F, 1/F, 2/F & 4/F of Lo Hui Kit San Building

CDMO commenced the renovation works, including new partitioning and finishes on G/F & 1/F of Lo Hui Kit San Building in August 2024, and completed the project in October 2024.  Honours Academy and Advancement and Alumni Affairs Office have moved in accordingly.

Following the completion of renovation works on G/F & 1/F of Lo Hui Kit San Building, CDMO also commenced the renovation work on 2/F & 4/F of Lo Hui Kit San Building in October 2024, which was completed by December 2024 for the Department of Computer Science to move in accordingly afterwards.

2. Signage Installation and Improvement Works of Yip Kit Chuen and Yuen Yuk Hing Hall

Further to the announcement of new donor to College Hall, the installation of new wall signage  “Yip Kit Chuen and Yuen Yuk Hing Hall” has been completed in October 2024. Face-lifting works to the lift lobby on M-4/F of the Yip Kit Chuen and Yuen Yuk Hing Hall was completed in September 2024.

  1. HSUHK Signage Relocation to S H Ho Academic Building

The original HSUHK Signage has been relocated from Wei Lun Square to the flat roof of S H Ho Academic Building on 2/F in November 2024, as one of feature points on campus and to give way to a new and improved signage at the same spot.

4. Hostel Facilities at 1/F of Old Hall

To support the need for more student hostel facilities, 4 rooms in Old Hall on the first floor were refurbished to provide 16 bed spaces for incoming students. 

5. Upgrade Works of Martin Ka Shing Lee Innovation Lab and Multimedia Commons

The upgrade works of the Martin Ka Shing Lee Innovation Lab on G/F and Multimedia Commons on 1/F of the Creative Humanities Hub (CR) were completed on 16 December 2024. The works provided the campus community with new state-of-the-art multimedia facilities to support teaching and learning.

  1. Improvement Works of Lam Tai Fai Clock Tower at Wei Lun Square

Improvement works of the Lam Tai Fai Clock Tower at Wei Lun Square were completed in January 2025 with a new clock face and new LED display system connecting to network for automatic time synchronisation.

The LED display system can also be used for displaying other information, for instance, date, week, temperature or other simple notices.

7. Feasibility Study for Space Needs and Redevelopment at Central Plaza/ Old Hall/ Staff Quarters site (Site C)

As approved by the Board Meeting held in February 2025, CDMO has been commissioned to initiate a feasibility study exercise to ascertain the future space and facilities demand in face of the upcoming developments of the University. The study will inform University Management about the feasibility of redevelopment at Site C.
