  1. Typhoon Preparation during Yagi Signal No.8

In response to the typhoon alert of Yagi in September 2024, our campus cleaning, security, and gardening teams proactively began typhoon preparations on the same day, ensuring that the campus was ready in case the weather conditions worsened. Their diligent efforts exemplify our commitment to safety and readiness in the face of potential challenges

The security team promptly restored the campus facilities after typhoon signal No. 8 was lifted, ensuring that normal campus operations could resume as quickly as possible.

2. Anti-mosquito Measures at Lee Shau Kee Complex

CDMO has consistently implemented proactive measures to control mosquito problems. In September 2024, a set of mosquito traps was installed outside the Lee Shau Kee Complex.

The traps with attractants shall be able to effectively control the mosquito breeding cycle, as well as minimise the risk of mosquito-borne diseases. 

 3. Fire Safety Seminar and Fire Drill on Campus

CDMO invited the Fire Services Department to further enhance fire safety awareness among our colleagues and students, ensuring the health and safety environment on campus. The fire safety seminar and drill took place on 15 and18 October 2024 at the RCs, while the drill was conducted on 2 December 2024 for the S H Ho Academic Building, Lee Shau Kee Complex, and Creative Humanities Hub.

4. Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Training

CDMO invited the Fire Services Department to conduct a “Press to Shock – Save a Life” Automated External Defibrillator (AED) course on 10 January 2025. This programme featured both online learning and practical sessions, providing our colleagues with a better understanding of AEDs and equipping them with the skills needed to use the equipment effectively in emergencies.

5. Case Handling Training for the Security Team

CDMO held “Injury Case Handling and Incident Report” training and refresher for all frontline security staff on 15 January 2025. This programme covered various types of injury cases, handling procedures, incident report preparation, and follow-up actions. It provided our security guards with a better understanding and knowledge of how to manage injury cases while on duty. 

6. Disinfection Measures

CDMO committed to uphold a clean and hygienic campus environment. Regular disinfection at the common area on campus, including library, toilets, catering areas and lifts has been carried out. The latest exercise was completed in January 2025.

7. Tree Pruning Works before Typhoon Season

Proactive tree pruning works including the removal of dead or broken branches, crown thinning, and crown reduction are ongoing from November 2024 to May 2025 in preparation for the typhoon season. These measures aim to prevent trees from falling during strong winds.
