Newsletter 202409 – Projects, renovation and improvement works

1. Renovation works on 4/F, M Building

CDMO commenced the renovation works, including new partitioning and finishes on 4/F of M Building in March 2024, and such works were subsequently completed by May 2024. Registry, Graduate School, Centre for Teaching and Learning and so on moved in accordingly.

2. Renovation works on 5/F, M Building

Following the completion of renovation works on 4/F of M Building, CDMO also commenced the renovation work on 5/F of M Building in May 2024, which was completed by July 2024 for the Department Art and Design to move in accordingly afterwards.

3. Reinstatement of Hostel Facilities on 1/F & 2/F, Old Hall

In order to address the need of increasing hostel facilities provision for students , 7 rooms in Old Hall on the first and second floors were reinstated and resumed as bed spaces for hostel use in August 2024 after Department of Art and Design was able to move from Old Hall to 5/F of M Building.

4. Fitting out works of new town centre, “The Create” at 15/F, M+ Tower, West Kowloon Cultural District

“The Create” located on 15/F of M+ Tower in the West Kowloon Cultural District, is newly renovated in September 2024. It serves as the new Town Centre for the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, providing innovative teaching and learning experiences that inspire creativity.

The Create features multi-purpose rooms, an executive training room and a multi-purpose hall supported by breakout rooms, refreshment facilities and vending machines. The acoustic operable wall system enables high flexibility of changing space configurations for different types of function or event scale.

Simple but modern decoration with the play of transparent and reflective materials has been adopted to enrich the overall spatial quality and visual effect within the Centre to embrace the dramatic view of the harbour.

It has been in operation since 9 September 2024.

5. Fitting out works of  the HSUHK Nansha Centre

In order to facilitate the University’s presence in the Greater Bay Area, a new office with a conference room shall be set up in Nansha. Fitting out works of new office has been completed in August 2024 and tentatively its onward operation could be commenced in October 2024.

6. New feature sign of University name installation at Wei Lun Square

To echo the University strategy of campus beautification, a new feature sign of University name “HSUHK” has been installed at Wei Lun Square.

7. Renovation work on G/F, Lee Shau Kee Complex for new Food Outlet

In order to support the need of space for a wider range of food varieties provided on campus, CDMO coordinated with SAO to reconfigure the entrance arrangement of  “The Inspiring” to enable a new food outlet setup on G/F of Lee Shau Kee Complex. The kitchen improvement works by service provider was completed by Aug 2024.
