Newsletter 202405 – Projects, renovation and improvement works

Main contractor continued the building interior and exterior planter and pavement granite laying works. FS certificate and Occupation Permit were issued on 24 January 2024 and 6 February 2024 respectively. School of Humanities and Social Science move-in on 23 February 2024 and commenced office operation on 26 February 2024 and the Creative Humanities Hub Opening Ceremony was held on 20 March 2024.

1.Building Tour on 20 March 2024

Creative Humanities Hub Opening Ceremony was held on 20 March 2024, followed by Building tour on the same day.

The student docents guided the participants to walk through the public facilities on G/F and 1/F, focusing on the design background including environmental considerations in Martin Ka Shing Lee Innovation Lab, Lecture Hall, Multimedia Commons and Gallery. Additionally, participants can understand more about the technologies applied during the building construction and contents of different programme offered by School of Humanities and Social Science from the exhibition in the Gallery.

2.Provision of seasonal flowers – December 2023

Vibrant and lively flowers were provided in December 2023, for Graduation Ceremony, to add energy and a sense of joy to the space. Graduates with their families and friends can take phots on campus, capturing memories alongside beautiful flowers.

3.Provision of seasonal flowers – March 2024

More than 100 potted plants (Chinese name: 寶蓮燈花、鴨腳木、虎尾蘭及鳳仙) were placed along the entrance of Creative Humanities Hub and around the building’s perimeter during opening ceremony to create a welcoming atmosphere.

4.Office Relocation of School of Humanities and Social Science (SHSS)

CDMO facilitated the relocation of SHSS offices to the Creative Humanities Hub 2/F – 4/F. Site tours were arranged to introduce staff to the facilities in the new building. The office relocation from M4/F & M5/F to the Creative Humanities Hub were completed on 24 Feb 2024. This relocation is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance our workspace and optimize our operations.

To ensure the success of the opening ceremony, CDMO has carefully allocated the required teams across different roles. Their responsibilities include managing logistics, coordinating activities, and ensuring the smooth running of the opening ceremony.

6.Renovation works on M4/F and Office Relocations of Department of Art and Design (AAD) and Department of Computer Science (COM)

Further to the moving out of SHSS office, CDMO commenced the renovation works with new partitioning and finishing on M4/F in March 2024, and such works and office relocations was completed in May 2024.
