Newsletter 202405 – Health and Safety Measures on Campus

1. Disinfection Measures

CDMO has carried out necessary disinfection measures to reduce the risk of epidemic outbreak and cross-infection inside the campus. Such measures will get the University prepared for and build resilience to any unforeseen pandemic in the future.

To disinfect the space and the high-touch surfaces, CDMO will continue to arrange service providers to provide anti-virus coating to the risky surfaces (the last treatment was completed in February 2024) and auto-disinfectant spray by cleaning robot regularly in the campus.

2. Fire Safety Briefing and Fire Drill

To enhance our staff and students on familiarity and awareness of fire safety and compliance with relevant regulations, CDMO has orgainised seminars and fire drills jointly with FSD regularly in the campus.

3. Health and Safety Training

To continuously strengthen the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) standards and knowledge in the workplace, CDMO has carried out various trainings to improve the OSH knowledge and skills of HSUHK staff. 

 Display Screen Equipment (DSE) Assessment Training 

To provide health and safety training and information for HSUHK Safety Ambassadors, CDMO arranged a training session and invited a professional tutor from Occupational Safety and Health Council, to teach our staff about the risks in DSE and how to avoid these by safety working practices, on 14 and 21 December 2023. Certificates of Competence in DSE Assessment were issued to the participants who passed the test. 

Manual Handling Operation Training 

To allow respective staff member to acquire relevant knowledges and skillsets for manual handling operations, CDMO has organized a training session of manual handling operations on 22 March 2024.
